By Alice Williams

This is a modern day romance – sweet and realistic. From the opening sentence on page 1 you are swept into Hannah’s busy, sometimes chaotic and frenzied work life. Literally sentences later you meet her soon to be LOVE Thomas. Hannah is a paramedic and Thomas is a cop. He is older than her by 9 years yet what is age when love hits you?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the slower pace and build up of their love. The fact that Hannah has anxiety also called to me. As I read it brought back so many personal memories that I did not expect. My husband,  boyfriend at the time, and I were forced to live together when COVID hit. I also deal with crippling at times anxiety. The Author did a wonderful job not hiding how serious anxiety disorders can be. We KNOW it is stupid yet our bodies react and lock up. While I was reading I found myself getting mad as I have been in  her same shoes. I also found myself rooting for them at the cabin and their forced living situation as mine allowed my husband and I to truly connect. Hannah is sweet and endearing and Thomas is a gentle giant. The tense job related events only add to their story and help guide them towards acknowledging their true love.

This is not a book you read for spice. Yes it has some spice, yet the story is what draws you in. You get invested in not only the Main Characters yet their families. The imagery brought on by the Author’s words makes it all feel real. I for one am glad I can go back and read her other books in the series to see the love stories of other family members. Yet this is a stand alone book and can be read alone.

I give it 5 stars or in this case, 5 dragonflies. A true heartwarming, yet maddening at times, realistic love story.

I received a free copy of this book as an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
