I absolutely loved this book! I gave it 5 Stars, or in this case 5 Ravens!

By the end of this book I was on the edge of my seat & actually SCREAMED aloud when it ended. What?? Marcella? Elijah?? What?? I hit the next button multiple times hoping against hope that there would be more to read now. I am hoping that this will be a multi-book storyline. So… yes, be warned, it ends on a cliffhanger.

I have to say I needed to read the short prologue a few times to really understand it somewhat. However, it is vital that you give it your full attention for it DOES play a vital role in the storyline & it is very short. Yet from page one of Ch. 1,  I became enthralled with Marcella and her life in the tiny village. Marcella’s history & time in the past was well written and kept my attention. I also fell in love with her family and her friend Matthew. I was rooting for Marcella & in Ch. 6 I was crying over the turn of the story. I knew where it would probably lead to and I was right. Chapter 8 was horrifying and the imagery was wonderful. I felt that I was truly there, witnessing a horrifying event. In Ch. 9 she ends up in a completely different world from her own. I became enthralled with the characters, the scenery, and the story twists. While by the end of the book I loved this world as well, I have to say her tiny village was my favorite.

The author did a great job putting in small snippets that helped the reader to connect the dots as one would say as the story went on. Yet they were spaced apart and I enjoyed that the story had mystery and was not spoon fed to you. This book will keep you engaged and I spent many hours reading in bed not able to put it down!

There was a shortcoming in the book in that there are some book images, or parts of books, shown in the story later on in the new world. These images were so small I had to use my kindle on my phone to take and then enlarge the pictures to see what they were saying. I feel they should have been of a size to read easily. However, there are not that many and it did not frustrate me enough to deduct a star.

I received a free copy of this book as an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
