This upcoming book is the third in the Sweetbriar Series yet can be read as a stand alone book. I got excited right away as I could tell by the titles of the chapters that baking would be involved. Then I got sucked in by the authors wonderful story line, humor, SPICE, and more. This book had so much packed in it that almost everyone is going to find something to love about it.

Sweet Redemption is about Kennedy Viera. She is a mature for her years young adult that has gone through a lot in her life. Kennedy faced growing up in the Foster care system, losing her older sibling, getting kicked out of the system at 18, and facing multiple chronic illnesses. One might think that after all this she would be jaded. Yet she is not! She has a true inner light that shines through as she raises her niece Maisie. For me having a Main Female Character suffering from Fibromyalgia as I do was so very special. The author does a wonderful job with handling Kennedy’s flares and explaining how over exertion can impact ones ability to function. Like many of us Fibro Warriors in real life, Kennedy hides her weaknesses well. Yet, not as well as she thinks.

Enter HAWK, or as Kennedy calls him Theo. When Theo enters Kennedy’s life he is looking for his daughter. Yup! Maisie! Theo has also faced huge burdens in his life from loss, war, PTSD, and more. He enters the story jaded and unwilling to believe that love can ever exist again.

Throughout the story we learn more about all of them as well as meet many Sweetbriar residents. Both Theo and Kennedy learn to stand up to their fears and face love. But as you read this wonderful and quirky book you will see that the path to true happiness, like in real life, is not a straight path.

Read this book for laughter, tears, and lots of SPICE thrown in with baking and reality. With chapters called ‘Beat Until Stiff’, ‘Have Your Cake and Eat It Too’, and ‘Bon Appetit’ how can you go wrong? It’s all about the baking, right? Or is it?? Hmmmmm….

I will end with one of my favorite quotes that made me laugh out loud, and it is only one of MANY! It is “Holy mother-of-pearl, I think Thor just walked into this backwater hole-in-the-wall.” HAHAHAHA!! Seriously, read this book and then go visit the author’s ADORABLE website!
