I had such high hopes for this book. I mean rainbow hair, MFM polyamory, hockey, suspense. What more could you want? Yet I must give it only 3 stars.

Now don’t get me wrong. This book is ok, just that it’s only ok.

The main female character is Veronica, or Ronnie. Ronnie has been trying to escape a horrendous past when she finds a found family with a Pro Hockey Team and their wives. Ronnie is a strong female character who has PTSD along with so many other things. What I loved in this book was how her character grew and learned how to accept real love and to accept herself as she is and can be. I enjoyed her story and her growth.

The main male characters are Noah and Gabriel, or Gabe as he likes to be called. Both are Pro Hockey players and do everything together. Literally EVERYTHING. They became best friends when they both came on the team and that friendship saves them from themselves. They are also each facing tragic pasts and a precarious present in that they party a LOT. Yet when they meet Ronnie they come to realize it is time to grow up. They realize that they care for her and that maybe they need to face their pasts too. They grow in this book and become so much stronger when they become a triad.

What I did not love is that the many, many, many storylines got to be a bit much. Some of the stories regarding their friends were introduced then barely mentioned. While the Triad was a main focal point the other stories muddled it up with too much information on them. However, I did love all of the stories and wished they had been fleshed out a bit more versus just a mention.

What caused me to stop reading for a few days, and almost not finish, was the spice. While I LOVE good spice scenes it seems that once the Triad started their fun, then that was all the book was about in graphic detail. Their stories, and the others, were put on hold. I kept saying to myself “ok after this scene the story continues”, yet then it would be another spice scene. When the storylines did pick back up and reached their conclusions it seemed rushed. The ending to me did not appear realistic and seemed to be just thrown in. I finished the book feeling ‘Meh’ when I had hoped to love it.

Now, if you are looking for a book with LOTS of Spice and don’t mind the jumping around of stories then this will be a fun read for you. For me I wanted more of the story.

I received a free copy of this book as an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
