4 STARS! and 4 FANGS!

As a recently retired teacher healing from my second round of cancer and ongoing Fibromyalgia I have embraced ARC reviews and BETA readings. However, also as a teacher I often take on so much at once! I often get ARCs well in advance of when I can read them. I plot them on a calendar and Google sheet so I won’t miss any deadlines. However, by the time I get to each ARC I often forget what the book was supposed to be about. All that to say I REMEMBER THIS BOOK! I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS BOOK!

This book originally came out in 2018 and was titled Rose and the Vampires. Back then I was into Hard Covers and Paperbacks, monthly trips to the Bookstores with my parents, and breakfast afterwards. As I said, this book captured my mind and even now years later it still does!

The Main Female Character is Rosalinda, or Rose as she prefers. She is a young, late 20s girl living in Miami. She is beautiful yet without aspirations. Rose works at Macy’s selling perfumes and she parties with her friends at night. Rose, at an age where she should have graduated College, is still taking classes, and even still living at home. What does she want to do with her life? Not even Rose knows that!

Then one night at a party with a friend her life changes forever. She is accosted and kidnapped, whisked away to a land full of Vampires, companions, servants, and magic. Rose has NO skills that can help her except that she has a rare blood that smells like ambrosia to the vampires and has an extra kick for them. Should she just sit there and let them use her? What can she do? Will her snarky remarks and impetuous decisions help or hurt her? Perhaps it is time to actually grow up and use her head?

This story truly IS Rose’s story as she is the only real Main Character. We see her start to grow up and realize that she is stronger than, braver than, smarter than she even knew. Along her journey she meets many Vampires that help and hinder her from the gorgeous Samantha, to the gorgeous yet horrendous Giancarlo, to the three Vampires that are tasked with keeping her safe. This story will engage you and draw you in with a nice pace and a good plot line. As my second time reading, enough time has passed that I was still pleasantly surprised at parts.

The reason I give this 4 stars is that while the book does have excellent pace and storyline it gets, how do I say this, weird at the end. It ends in a tumultuous scene as many books do yet then leaves out the after effects for all of the characters involved. What happens to them? Why skip that? This would be fine if it ended there. However, the author adds an extra final chapter. This chapter is out of context and while spicy it threw me now as it did in 2018. It was unneeded, out of context, and perhaps would have been better after explaining the after effects of the events prior OR in a second book.

HOWEVER, that is only my personal opinion! This is still an amazing book that I will gladly read over and over again!! I encourage you to read this scary, thrilling Vampire storyline! Books 2 and 3 are out soon!!

I received a free copy of this book as an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
