She just wanted to run the small town library after the events of Halloween. Can’t she have QUIET? Time to connect and really meet the townspeople and her Assistant Mae? It’s enough to deal with her feelings toward a ghost and the Handyman! Is a bit of quiet too much to ask??
YES!
C. L. McClellon has done it again with Book 2 of The Red Oaks Library. In this book our favorite small town Librarian, Dawn Keen, is back. She has been at Red Oaks for barely a month and was hoping she could settle in. Nice and quiet. Yet this is not to be.
As Thanksgiving approaches the Library Committee decides to run another library led event. I mean the Halloween one went spectacularly in book 1 (Books, Banshees, and Beginnings) right? However, at the very first meeting strange heartbeats are heard coming from the walls. This of course puts everyone on the committee on high alert. Yet it could be just the old plumbing in the library, right?
As the story goes on we learn there is another restless spirit in the library. This one came from outside the library and came to Red Oaks Library for help. As Dawn and Mae learn, this spirit is a bit wild. The events in the library start heating up again rather quickly and get weirder and more scarier as time goes on. Who says Halloween ends on Halloween? Yet who is this spirit and what do they want?
As Dawn attempts to answer these questions she must also face her growing attraction for Charles Rennick and Ethan Callahan. As we learned in book 1, one is dead and one is alive. Who will she choose? You think it’s easy, yes? But it is not for each one offers her heart and soul something different. On top of this Dawn must deal with her feelings of missing her daughter who lives so far away right now AND continue to grow her own newly found self-esteem.
Can Dawn make a choice between the two men? Can she solve the questions around the restless spirit? Can she stay strong and believe in herself? What about Mae? Will Mae be able to help her again now that she herself has a new romance? Can Dawn and Mae corral the library committee and keep everyone on task? And MOST importantly can she facilitate a successful recipe contest and keep her job?
READ this WONDERFUL small town mystery and find out! If you love small town ambiance, hilarious characters, mystery and ghosts then this book is for you! And yes, there is even a bit of romance thrown in for fun.
